Preethi slowly opened her eyes to the soft light filtering through the curtains. The unfamiliar scent of fresh linen and the quietness told her she wasn’t in her hostel room anymore. Her gaze drifted down to her foot, now wrapped in a neat bandage. The pain had dulled, replaced by a slight throbbing sensation.
She tried to sit up, but the weight of the previous day's exhaustion still clung to her body. Just then, the door creaked open, and Arjun stepped in, carrying a tray with a glass of water and some medication.
